2014 Winter Season: Week 22

This is it. The final weekly review for 2014. Apologies if you hadn’t seen the last two, they are stuck up in the cloud somewhere and it hasn’t rained so there basically trapped up there. Next season we hope to have these reviews to you quicker and so they don’t clash with the upcoming round. All the best and C’mon the Blues!

Men's Football

Our Reserves had a 2-2 draw with Victoria University in a tense affair. Jake Theron was in deadly form, getting both goals. It’s now fingers crossed that Petone old boy Chris Sambrooke’s Stop Out can triumph over Wanganui to keep our Reserves in Capital Premier.

Very few wins for the rest of our Blue squadron… Our Thirds completed a great season with a 2-1 over Marist and The Stonecutters popped off Island Bay 3-0. The rest of our teams all fell on the final day, not even all the legends in the Masters section could get us one final win!

See you all at prizegiving on 20th September!

Women’s Football

The Kelly Cup dream came to an end in a semi final loss to the well-polished Central League side Wellington United. Our ladies went down 4-0 but held their own and can be mighty proud of their performance. As we have said, and love to keep saying, it’s been an awesome year for our Women and we are super proud of them!

Junior Football

Well that is it! The final round of competition games for the juniors for the 2014 season. A huge thanks to all the Grade Managers, Coaches and Managers and volunteers who gave up their time over the season to coordinate teams, develop our players of the future, and help out in the tuck shop. Thanks also goes to the players for their enthusiasm and commitment throughout the season. You can see some of the highlights from the last games of the season on our website.

Good luck to those continuing on for the upcoming tournaments at Western Suburbs, Douglas Villa and Taupo over the next month. Don't forget we have the Junior Prizegiving next week and the Fun Football Holiday Programme coming up at the end of the month.

See you all next season in the Blue and White!
