Sorry we've been a bit slow getting this review up guys. The end of the season has been a bit hectic, so we apologise if some things are a bit out of date. We will do better next season. Promise!

Well it’s not long now is it? As the warmer temperatures greet us with a gentle kindness and we start thinking about getting the cricket whites out. Let’s review what happened and when and how! It’s the review of the week and/or week with a review!

Mens Football

Grant Plumbing Petone’s season came to a grinding halt with a 3-0 loss to the impressive Wests side. Another familiar finish of 6TH for the lads. We will do a season review for you as soon as we can.

Our Reserves didn’t play but have a huge game this Saturday at Memorial. Kick off is at 1pm against University. A win will confirm our safety in Cap Prem. Get in there lads!

In Cap 3 The Armanis had an absolute sensation of a game beating North Wellington 4-3! Our Thirds had no luck going down to Stokes Valley. Love saying this name…The Hawk Wasps beat Vic Uni 3-2! For Shore went down to Stokes Valley over in Cap 10.

Masters saw some "real cool" (saying used in 1988) results. Left Over Stew beat North Wellington 4-0, Mighty Masters won 5-3 and The Dreamers? The Dreamers beat Miramar 6-1! Ooooooh yeah we love that!

On Tuesday night action that was live on Sky Sport 2, Pickle Jar drew 1-1 with Brooklyn.

A great result in Ivan England action with Petone beating Miramar 5-3. Top stuff that is.

Womens Football

The Kelly Cup dream is still alive!

A fine quarter final victory over North Wellington by 3-1! Goals came through a double for Jade Morrissey and one from a corner that may be credited to Sarah or Vanessa or an own goal. Let’s not squabble, a goal is a goal and ANOTHER win is a win!

A semi final on Friday night awaits against a quality Wellington United side. The way our ladies have gone this season DO NOT DARE write them off. Good luck!

Junior Football

Into the penultimate round (that’s second to last if you don’t know French) of football for this season and almost a full round of games were completed.

There was some exciting football mid-week with the College finals on the main turf! Huge congratulations to Hutt Valley High School for taking out both the boys and girls finals. It was great to see some past and present Petone players in action.

In the 11th Grade, the Settlers took on Wellington United in tight contest, taking the game 4-3. The Wanderers also scored a victory against Carterton. In the Hutt Valley league, the Nomads weren’t able to keep out Upper Hutt, going down 3-0; while the Rovers drew with Stop Out 2-2 and the Villagers came home with the chocolates against Wainuiomata 4-0.

The 9th Grade had some cracking scores over the weekend. The Settlers and Wanderers headed north to face Upper Hutt at Trentham Memorial Park, both teams coming away undefeated, with the Settlers having a draw (2-2) and a comprehensive victory against UH Flyers (7-0). The Wanderers also took on UH Flyers beating them 9-0, and followed up with a win over another Upper Hutt team 5-2. Upper Hutt learnt a valuable lesson that weekend.

The 9th Grade Nomads and Villagers rose to the challenge of Riverside South Park and all of its mud to face teams from Upper Hutt, Stokes Valley and Stop Out. Despite a couple of close scores, unfortunately the results didn’t go their way, except for one of the Nomads games where they scored an impressive 9 goals against Upper Hutt.

This weekend sees the final round of games and a Phoenix Festival Day at Memorial Park, so remember to get their early to secure your park and bring your cameras and pens for autographs as a couple of Phoenix players will be on hand to watch the footballers of the future!
