2014 Winter Season : Week 11

Week 11 already? Incredible. Let's run our eye over the Petone Football family and see who went well and who, like the Spanish football team, just wanted to go home.

Mens Football

With both the Firsts and Reserves having the weekend off to go fishing and pump iron on Petone beach it was a quieter weekend for our club.

Our third team had a good win over Greytown 1-0. In the same division the Armanis went down 3-1 to Masterton.

The Petone Chuggers had a nil all draw with Wellington United. Kristy Whalen did a stunning match report on this game on our Facebook page. Have you "liked" our page yet? You should. It's absolutely brilliant stuff and a heap of fun for all ages.
The Hawk Wasps faced the very similar named Naenae Nighthawks. Our Hawk Wasps tucked them away 3-2.
The Stonecutters crashed back down to earth losing 2-0 to Seatoun. These two face each other again on the 28th June at Memorial. Petone For Shore ran into all kinds of trouble losing by ten to Miramar.
In the Masters arena results were very positive! Mighty Masters beating Wharfies 2 zip. Left Over Stew got up 2-1 over Tawa Blues (the Blues of Tawa? Pardon? We're the Blues!) and the Dreamers got a 1-1 draw with Stokes Valley.

In Under 17 action the B's had the bye and the A's unfortunately went down 3-2 to Miramar.

Womens Football

Gees I'll tell you this for nothing our Womens teams are going great guns. Petone Pure hit 6 pf the best past Victoria University, who managed just the one. Goalscorers were a triple from Jade Morrissey, a double to Bianca Mueller and one to Rebecca Cox. The Paulers completed the double with a 2-1 victory over KCU via Hannah Carey & Hayley Potter. It's exciting times for Womens football at Petone let me assure you.

Junior Football

After almost a week of rain it was great to see a full round of games played last weekend. Go away rain there is no need for you okay? You can rain at night to help us go to sleep but once we're asleep that's enough yeah? Thanking you..

Our 14th Grade Promo team came away with a 2-2 draw against North Wellington, with the other two 14th Grade teams going down in narrow losses – despite plenty of goals being scored.

The 13th Grade Settlers also went on a scoring rampage defeating North Wellington 6-0 – a great result!

The 11thGrade Nomads game surely would have been a game to watch – even though the Nomads came out on the wrong side of the 6-5 score line. A day goalkeepers wanted to politely tuck in the Wheelie bin.

With all this action in the older Grades let’s not forget about our future footballers. The First Kicks teams are also in action every Saturday, with almost 80 enthusiastic and very excited footballers chasing the ball and scoring plenty of goals.

Girls Only

Sunday saw the Girls only teams heading into Wellington for their round of games. The 8th Grade team had a mixed bag of results across their four games, while the 12th Grade team won both of their games against Seatoun and North Wellington.

The 10th Grade Black Petone team fought out a great result against BNU taking the win 4-3, and then went on to draw with Upper Hutt. Unfortunately the 10th Grade Yellow team lost both of their games.
