2014 Winter Season : Week 10

After a few false starts and humbugs the Week 10 review is here! Apologies for the delay readers.

Central League

Grant Plumbing Petone got a hard fought 2-1 win over Lower Hutt on the turf. It was an all round great team performance and the passion and commitment were set to the perfect level. Goalscorers were James Hill, his first for the club, and Paul Whitmarsh (with a trademark "reach for the stars" jump for joy). Dan Clarke pulled off some preposterous saves in the second half to help us gain 3 vital points against our bitter rivals The lads are not back in action until 21st June when they face Tawa on the the Turf but this was a game that has hopefully got us heading in the right direction.

Mens Football

Our Reserves played out a goaless draw also with Lower Hutt. a game with few chances the draw was a fair result. There were a fair ol' whack of interclub games with bragging rights up for grabs. The Armanis overcame the Thirds 3-2 over on #2. The Stonecutters kept up their strong season with a 4-0 win over The Chuggers, this included a ridiculous bicycle kick from Sam Blandford. The Mighty Masters and Left Over Stew played out a 2-2 draw. In other games The Hawk Wasps buzzed Porirua out of town with a 5-1 win. Chicago came unstuck against the Orange mystic of Eastbourne 1-0. On Monday night on the Turf Petone For Shore went down 2-0 to Vic Uni and then on the Tuesday night, also on the Turf, The Dreamers fell 3-1 to Porirua City.

In Under 17 action defending went on holiday as firstly our A team won 11-0 v Wellington United and then the B team beat North Wellington 8-4. Bonkers!

Womens Football

The promising Womens season continued. Two great wins for our Women and they were both over Stop Out. The Pure winning 4-0 with a brace from Bianca Mueller and then a goal a piece to Hayley Smith and Sarah Duffin. The Paulers got up 2-1 thanks to net bulging by Hannah Carey and Hayley Potter.
