Women's Football Success

Great news! It was a brilliant day for women’s football at Petone Football Club yesterday with a league title and a promotion secured! Congratulations to everyone involved especially the coaching staff, team managers and of course the ladies themselves. You have done yourselves and the club proud!

Powerex Petone 1st Team secured the Premier League title in style with a 4-1 victory over Kapiti Coast United. Eleven wins and one draw means they are unable to be caught with two games still to be played. It’s been a fantastic season for the squad and they now have a chance to gain promotion to the Central League through a playoff against the Central Federation champion later in the season.

Powerex Petone 2nd Team had a 3-1 win over Wainui that sees them clinch Division 2 and gain promotion back into Division 1 for next season. They had a great second half of the season with 7 straight wins and thoroughly deserve to be back in Division 1 for next year.

Petone’s 3rd Team had a 2-2 draw with Naenae and have retained their place in Division 2 for next season – not a bad effort at all for their first year together!

Once again, our warmest congratulations to all three teams for the fantastic season and for ensuring that women’s football is alive and very well at Petone Football Club. All the very best to Sam Morrissey and his team for the Central League playoff games – we will keep you posted as more information becomes available.
