Petone and Wairarapa United played out the game of the round at Petone Memorial Park with seven goals producing a 4-3 thriller for the local fans.

The hosts opened the scoring as captain David Lane made no mistake when the ball found its way to him as he powered a header home for an early lead.

Wairarapa were feeling a little bit of deja vu a few minutes later as another header from a corner doubled Petone's lead. This time centre back Jordan Pickering climbed higher than the rest to supply a great finish.

Two goals in 10 minutes for Wairarapa thanks to Magno Viera and Seule Soromon levelled the scores in what was proving to be a very open game before Petone were awarded a penalty which Van Elia made no mistake in converting to restore their lead.

It didn't last long, with Wairarapa continuing to push for an equaliser and it came hen a terrific through ball put Hamish Watson in behind the defence and he clinically dispatched it to level the scores at 3-3.

In a frantic last few minutes which saw Wairarapa go down to eight men, Petone found the winner through Elia to give them a 4-3 win and move up to fourth on the ladder.
