Petone Settlers Talent Centre

Petone Settlers Talent Centre

Petone FC is delighted to introduce the Petone Settlers Talent Centre. A new development programme for players aged between 9 and 17 years.  This is an opportunity for players to attend specialised training sessions each week with a programme designed to maximise their potential in challenging and enjoyable sessions.

Marc Thomas is the Director of the Petone Settlers Talent Centre, with Gary Jenkins (Director of Junior Football) leading the girls’ development programme. Marc was appointed as the club's Technical Director earlier this year and has extensive experience coaching in New Zealand and Australia. He holds a UEFA B Coaching Licence, as well as a diploma in teaching (PE) and a BSc in Sports and Exercise Science.

The Petone Settlers Talent Centre will encompass both talent and community pathways to enable all players (boys and girls) to develop to their greatest potential at all levels. Term one 2019 sees the talent programme continue. More information regarding the community pathway will be available shortly.

Why has Petone started a Talent Centre?

Petone FC wants to give our young players the best chance possible to be the best players they can be. Following an assessment of the current football environment in Wellington and information from Capital Football regarding the existing Federation talent pathway, which is undergoing changes from 2019, Petone FC aims to ensure a strong development programme is available for our players.

In the future there will be greater emphasis placed on clubs for player and talent development.

Who is invited to join the Settlers Talent Centre?

At present all Settlers and Wanderers players (mixed league teams) from 11th – 14th grades, plus all Girls only teams from 9th grade up.
